The Opening Letter

The following is an example of how you might word your opening letter:

Example One:

My friend..I write you this letter because I want you to know that God has put you on my heart this Christmas season and I want you to know that I have been led by him to pray for your for 12 days from the 14th of December to the 25th of December. I believe that he has put you on my heart for a reason. I am not sure exactly what that reason is but I want you to know that I will be lifting you up to my Savior and Lord during that time.

I will follow up at the end of this time with a letter letting you know how he led me to pray for you. If God worked in your heart or you feel he answered the prayers that he put on my heart I would appreciate and be greatful for your report back to me.

I truly believe that God will answer my prayers and praise him in advance for the wonderful and might things that he will do.

Example Two:

Hello to my acquaintances, friends, and loved ones. Allow me to introduce ' The Twelve prayers of Christmas' to you… The 'Twelve prayers of Christmas' is a prayer blessing that God gave me 3 years ago when I asked the Lord to show me how to bless others at Christmas time. The Lord answered my prayer by giving me the idea of an advent-like countdown to Christmas combined with 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' effect. With these two themes in mind, 12 people were prayerfully chosen to be placed on 'Twelve prayers of Christmas' list.

The prayer event takes place Dec. 14th- Dec. 25th and consists of daily prayer on the 12 individual/family's behalf. By following the guidelines mentioned above, I am agreeing to pray for you daily for the allotted 12 days. This notification is what I like to call "the opening letter". After I have prayed for you, you will receive "a closing letter", much like a receipt so that you will know without fail that this prayer promise has been kept. If you have specific prayer requests, feel free to share them with me. If you do not, I will ask in this season of prayer that God will reveal Himself to you as has never been seen before. In addition, I will pray for God's blessings on you and your family.

This prayer event is an exercise of faith for both the prayer-giver and for the prayer-recipient. Ultimately, we are asking God to answer prayers miraculously as we are reminded about the miracle of Jesus' birth. I have even seen God answer the 'Twelve prayers of Christmas' prayers months after Christmas had past. May God receive the Glory for all that He has and will do through 'Twelve prayers of Christmas'.
